The more we use technology, the higher the chances of it distracting us from our normal work routine. Technology should act as a catalyst for healthy work-life balance and improve life in general. When we designed Cliq to help improve productivity, we also started to focus on areas that allow the users to improve their mental well-being. The Do Not Disturb (DND) feature in Cliq was created for this very purpose.
Introducing DND
DND is a new status feature which will block all your Cliq notifications and sounds while turned on. The DND feature is a little different from the Busy status.
With the DND status, even though users can message you, there won't be any notification sound or any popups appearing on your screen.
For example, if you are taking a nap, you would not want that notification sound to disturb your sleep. If you are giving an online presentation and sharing your screen, you definitely would not want a notification popping up on the screen. This is where DND comes handy.
If you don't want to get notifications after work hours, you can also set a notification schedule using the automation feature. All notifications will be paused during the blocked time.
Here are some examples of when you may want to use the DND status:
- When you are watching a movie with your family and you don't want to be distracted by message notifications
- When you are strategising and do not want anything to interrupt your thought process
- When it's the weekend and you want to clearly indicate you do not want to receive messages
The DND feature can also be automated for regular quiet hours or whole days. Configure it in Settings -> Status -> Automatic DND.
This feature is another step toward personalised computing and autonomy in human-computer interaction, allowing for a more conscious method of utilising Cliq for work.
