Bee spills the tea on internal hiring

Zoho Recruit Internal Job Posting

TL;DR - One place for every opportunity

With Zoho Recruit's Employee Portal for Internal Job Posting (IJP), we could  publish internal openings in one dedicated space where employees could:

  • Discover internal opportunities without relying on emails or chats.
  • See which team is hiring and who the hiring manager is.
  • Apply for internal roles and track your applications.
  • Refer candidates and track the status of your referrals.
  • Share job openings across social media using your unique referral link.
  • Approve or reject applications submitted through your referral link.

Instead of scattered conversations, everyone knew exactly where to look.

Hi, it's Bee again!

Everyone's talking about AI-powered hiring, automation, and finding talent faster. Those conversations matter. But while everyone was looking outward, I found myself looking inward.

It all started with a role I needed to fill.

Over a coffee break

Like most recruiters, my first instinct was to post the opening externally, source candidates, and wait for referrals. Then, near the water cooler, I overheard an employee say, "I didn't know this role was open. I would've applied." That hit me harder than the caffeine.

What if the right person already worked here?

Why spend weeks searching outside when someone within the organization might already have the skills, context, and ambition to take on the role?

Hidden in plain sight

A few conversations with hiring managers and employees revealed a common pattern. Everyone supported internal movement, but opportunities were difficult to find on time.

Some openings were shared over email. Others got buried in Cliq conversations. Sometimes managers forgot to spread the word. And occasionally, employees learned about a role only after it had already been filled.

The talent was there, I just had to look harder.

The ripple effect

A couple of weeks after we introduced the Employee Portal, the changes became hard to ignore. The way people participated in hiring had completely changed. Looking back, the Employee Portal solved more than a visibility problem. It changed the hiring experience for everyone involved.

For recruiters

The biggest surprise? Internal hiring no longer felt like extra work.

One click was all it took to publish an opening internally as and when we publish in job boards and career sites. Everything came together in one place, making it easier to focus on people instead of processes.

Job opening labels showed exactly where each role was published, so we never had to dig through our ATS.

For employees

Employees no longer had to wait for opportunities to find them.

They could browse internal openings, identify the hiring manager, apply for roles that matched their aspirations, and track the progress of their applications without wondering what happened next.

No more chasing conversations across emails and chats.

For referrals

Employees became talent evangelists.

They could share referral links for public job openings with their network or on social media. When someone applied through that link, the referral comes back for review. Employees could then approve or decline the referral, add context about how they knew the candidate, and send it forward with confidence to our team.

Referrals became thoughtful recommendations backed by people who knew the candidate best.

For the organization

Career opportunities became more visible. Employees became active participants in hiring instead of passive observers. Looking within became our first instinct, not a forced last resort.

How our talent nurturing evolved

Before adopting IJP

Open position⟶ Email everyone ⟶ Hope someone notices ⟶ Collect referrals manually ⟶ Track in spreadsheets ⟶ Repeat

After adopting IJP

Open position ⟶ Publish internally ⟶ Employees discover opportunities ⟶ Employees apply or refer ⟶ Recruiter tracks everything ⟶ Publish externally if needed

Looking within changed everything

The right candidate isn't always someone waiting on a job board. Sometimes, they're already contributing, learning, and ready for their next opportunity within the organization.

The Employee Portal helped me make those opportunities visible. Zoho Recruit helped me automate the rest. Now, before I look outside, I always look within.

Who knows? Your next great hire might already be sitting a few desks away.
