You know the exciting "Order placed" email you receive when you bought that cute dress you liked online? The ticket you received in your mail when you booked your trip to Bali or the account notification email when you swiped your card at the grocery store? All of these are transactional emails, sometimes referred to as "triggered emails" or "automated emails."
So, what exactly are transactional emails?Transactional emails are unique, automated emails that acknowledge a transaction between the sender and recipient. They are often triggered in real-time by the actions your customers perform on your application or website.
Transactional emails are often overlooked but play a crucial role in customer engagement and building trust for your business. Imagine walking into a coffee shop and, after placing your order, the employee says nothing and walks away. Did they hear you? Will you get your latte? You're left waiting for an acknowledgment. Even if you do get your drink, you'll probably prefer a different cafe the next time you need coffee. Similarly, even a small error or delay in your transactional emails can result in a loss of trust among your users.
Transactional emails vs Marketing emails
We often hear this, "What's the difference between transactional emails and marketing emails?".
Unlike transactional emails, marketing emails promote the same content to many at once. They have a lower engagement rate and may be marked as spam. Since engagement affects email deliverability, separating your transactional email service from your marketing emails can ensure it reaches your customers.
Take a look at our "Transactional emails page" for detailed differentiation.
Types of transactional emails
Whatever the size of your company, if your business has an online presence, you will probably send out tons of transactional emails every day. These emails relay important information to your users throughout the customer lifecycle. There are a variety of transactional emails sent at different times in a user's journey.
In the next blog post, we'll be back to dive deeper into all these different types of transactional emails and to shed some light on other important aspects of transactional emails and how they can help your business.
In the meanwhile, you can leave your feedback in the comments section. We would also love to hear your questions about transactional emails so we can have them answered in our next blog.

Thank you so much, Surashis. :)
Are these going to be charged as like with the bulk emailing options? EDIT noticed this little pricing at the top. Thats quite nice! We dont have that much reach. Is that number of 10k also seen as a counting limit. Meaning its eather 10k per 2.5 credit or per 6 months? How should i read this part Used by 45+ Zoho applications to deliver an average of 110M transactional emails per month. THere are just a couple items which include email right, and there is only one email program. Not sure i fully understand that 45+ use it? Im none English so im not sure i follow this
Hi. TransMail's pricing follows a pay-as-you-go model. So you can buy emails credits. Each email credit allows you to send 10k emails. So if you buy 1 email credit for 2.5$, you can send 10k emails. You can send these emails for 6 months from the date of purchase. Transactional emails are not specific to just email-related applications. Even an e-commerce site will require transactional emails like order confirmation emails, finance apps will need to send invoices. All these automated emails fall under transactional emails. That way, 45+ Zoho applications send transactional emails using TransMail on a regular basis. We have a couple more blogs coming up that will dive deeper into transactional emails and how they can help different types of businesses.
