Secure Connect in Zoho Assist: How MFA closes the credential gap in unattended access

Credentials get shared, borrowed, and sometimes compromised. For unattended remote access, where sessions happen outside business hours and without an end user present, that is a real exposure. Valid credentials are often the only checkpoint in place, and a compromised account is all it takes to breach it.

Secure Connect in Zoho Assist adds MFA as a mandatory verification layer on top of existing access controls. Even when credentials check out, every technician must verify their identity before a session begins. Credentials alone are no longer enough.

Key capabilities

MFA-gated unattended access
Every technician must complete MFA before connecting to any unattended device in the organization. The requirement applies across the board, with no way to bypass it.

Reauthentication timeout
A configurable timeout lets technicians reconnect to the same device within a set time window without re-authenticating. Once the window expires, or when switching to a different device, authentication is required again.

Device exclusions
Specific devices can be excluded from the authentication requirement when needed. Excluded devices are listed clearly in settings and can be removed at any time.

Getting started

If your organization uses unattended access at any scale, Secure Connect is worth enabling. The setup takes only few minutes, requires no changes to your existing technician workflows, and the security benefit is immediate. Once enabled, every unattended session has a verified user behind it, not just an authenticated account.
